Facebook
You’ve heard all of the chatter from the media, friends and colleagues about Facebook. You have heard that it has 300 million active users, but you still aren’t sure it’s right for you. Try it out.  Register today at www.facebook.com. If the only reason you join is to become a fan of HAR, then we’re okay with that—as a start.

If you’ve already joined and are finally connected to your grandkids, children and old school buddies on Facebook, why not receive updates from the Houston Association of REALTORS®?  We have created both a consumer-facing (but members can, and should, be fans, too) Fan Page (Facebook.com/HARFans) and a Members Only member group (search for “Houston Association of REALTORS® - For Members” on Facebook to find it) so you can stay up to date on all the latest information from all of the HAR departments. If you are a commercial member, then you will want to become a fan of Commercial Gateway as well at Facebook.com/CommGate.

Become a Fan of Your Favorite HAR Facebook Pages

And join the Members Only Group by searching for “Houston Association of REALTORS® - For Members” on Facebook. They don’t have easy usernames for Groups like they do for Fan Pages.

Once you become a Fan of each page, you can subscribe to the updates by text message, e-mail, http://m.Facebook.com (the mobile web version) or access from your Blackberry or iPhone application.

Do you have an idea on how we can use Facebook? E-mail us at Facebook@HAR.com.

Twitter
HAR Central has now become “Headline Central.” Absorb the headlines of what matters to you most as a Houston REALTOR® into 140 characters or less that include hyperlinks to articles, videos, photos, and so much more. The Houston Association of REALTORS® has created Twitter accounts to deliver information you can hopefully use to better serve your clients.

Create a profile today and start following HAR and the Commercial Gateway profiles for all the latest news in the world of real estate.

Once you start following HAR profiles you can receive updates by text message, email, http://m.Twitter.com, (the mobile web version), or access from your Blackberry or iPhone application.

(Once you sign up, you can even join the 3.8 million other people who are following Ashton Kutcher or the 2.8 million who follow CNN. You can debate among yourselves what the fact that Ashton Kutcher has 1 million more followers than CNN means about our society…)

Do you have an idea on how we can use Twitter? E-mail us at Twitter@HAR.com.

YouTube
A picture is worth a thousand words and a video is worth a million. HAR’s professional video department is now sharing videos on YouTube to inform Houston REALTOR® members and the public of hot topics, breaking news, and information you can use to share with your clients.

Watch all the videos or those specific to your interest organized by category.

And look for information about registering for the upcoming HAR Spring Training on March 11 and 12, which follows the ultra-successful Digital Media Summer Camp in July 2009. If you missed the “summer camp,” you won’t want to miss “spring training.” And if you were at the summer camp, you already know you’ll want to come learn even more in March 2010.
