The Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) is a 25,000-member organization of real estate professionals engaged in every aspect of the industry, including residential and commercial sales and leasing, appraisal, property management and counseling.
It is the largest individual membership trade association in Houston, as well as the largest local Association/Board of REALTORS® in the United States. HAR was founded in 1918. It's purpose is to enhance members' ability to conduct their business successfully and serve the public with integrity and competency, and to promote public policy that fosters a favorable business climate. HAR is a spokesman for the free enterprise system and the protection of private property rights. It is part of the network that includes the National Association of REALTORS® headquartered in Chicago and Washington, D.C., the Texas Association of REALTORS® in Austin, and approximately 1,800 local associations/boards throughout Texas and the U.S.
The term "REALTOR®" is a registered collective membership mark which identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and who subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.
