Dear HAR Member,
It’s an incredible honor for me to serve as 2010 Chair of the Board of the largest local REALTOR® association in the U.S. However, it doesn’t take a No. 1 ranking to know that HAR is the best REALTOR® association in the country, serving the real estate needs of a world-class city.
HAR members and the greater Houston community as a whole proved so resilient after Hurricane Ike damaged or destroyed many of our businesses last September and interrupted thousands of real estate transactions. We helped one another get back on our feet and addressed the challenges facing our clients.
Houston also held strong through a national recession that has taken a terrible toll on many other housing markets around the country. Our market is already growing stronger by the day and will continue to do so throughout 2010.
At a time when many of us must work harder to stretch our dollar further, I am proud to announce that for the fifth year in a row, HAR is holding the line on membership dues. That means no increase for your HAR membership dues in 2010.
HAR continues to provide leading-edge services and technologies to our members. These include the tools and training for social networking applications that are proving so effective at growing our members’ existing business while cultivating new clients. These include the user-friendly features that make HAR.com a preeminent online real estate resource. They also include special events like the Digital Media Summer Camp, REALTOR® Expo, and other workshops and conferences that put the keys to a successful real estate business in your hands.
HAR is working to further instill consumer confidence in the Houston real estate market through ongoing public relations and advertising campaigns that also remind consumers that a REALTOR® is a necessary part of the real estate transaction and educate them about the use of a REALTOR®.
Only through the strength and support of our 24,000 members can we remain a successful REALTOR® community, so I personally thank each of you for your membership in your association.
My theme for 2010 is “Supporting Our Members in the World of Real Estate” and know that, as a valued member, you can count on that support next year and for many years to come.
